Leon-Decker, president/CEO of the $47 million DistrictGovernment Employees FCU, was nominated by President Barack Obama to succeed Gigi Hyland,whose term expired Aug. 2.

Federation President/CEO Clifford Rosenthal said Leon-Decker'scredit union “is a member community development credit union (CDCU)of the Federation, and has played an outstanding role in extendingservices to the low-income residents of the District ofColumbia.”

“We've had the opportunity to collaborate with Carla bothdomestically and internationally. We have no doubt that she willserve on the NCUA Board with distinction,” Rosenthal said.

Leon-Decker has been active in numerous credit unionorganizations, is a Credit Union Development Educator and aco-founder and director of the Network of Latino Credit Unions andProfessionals.

Her 10,800-member CU reported a profit of $31,167 in the firstsix months of 2011 after reporting losses of $119,797 for 2007,$369,282 for 2008, $483,946 for 2009, and $322,790 for 2010.
