The $4.4 billion Alaska USA FCU has released free mobile banking apps for iPhone and Android users.
Functionality includes balances, transfers, bill pay, rates, branch and ATM locators and cleared check images.
Mobile devices already account for 20% of the 425,000-member credit union's logins, Alaska USA said.
The apps were a collaborative effort between in-house staff and MShift Inc. of Fremont, Calif., the credit union said, and are available at the Apple App Store and the Android Market.
“The mobile app is one more way to make account management easy and convenient for members, wherever they are,” said Kent Logan, vice president of electronic and card services.
Anchorage-based Alaska USA currently operates 60 branches in Alaska, California and Washington state. MShift said it now provides mobile banking solutions to about 200 financial institutions, including a majority of the 50 largest credit unions.
