Journalists Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein and former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be among the speakers at CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference next year.
The reporting of Woodward and Bernstein for The Washington Post exposed many of the details of the break in at the Democratic National Committee's headquarters in the Watergate Building and subsequent cover up. Their stories helped lead to the naming of a special prosecutor, impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives and ultimately the resignation of then-President Richard M. Nixon.
Rice was secretary of state during President George W. Bush's second term and was national security adviser during his first term. She was there during the lead up to and fighting of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
The theme of the conference, which will be held from March 18-22 at the Washington Convention Center., is “Powerful Cause. Positive Effect.” To register, go to: http://www.cuna.org/events/gac12/
