CO-OP Financial Services' point-of-sale transactions were notimpacted when its third-party processor, FIS, experienced an outagewhich shut down hundreds of its ATMs on Friday, an executive withthe payments CUSO said Monday.

Caroline Lane, senior vice president with CO-OPin Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., confirmed that that the CUSO hadexperience a processing outage starting a little bit after noon andcontinuing until about 3 p.m. PDT when the problem wascorrected.

It took additional time for all the impacted systems tocompletely recover, Lane explained.

The processing outage meant intermittent processing for CO-OPATMs, Lane said, but transactions at POS terminals went throughthanks to “stand in” processing arrangements the CUSO had made.

FIS in Jacksonville, Fla., has not commented on the outage orits cause.
