As a way to expand its and the industry's political clout and better coordinate Capitol Hill visits, NAFCU plans to allow all credit unions to attend its annual Congressional Caucusat the same rate it offers to its own members.
"Key issues of the industry such as the credit union tax exemption, member business lending, data security and housing finance reform have become more important than ever before, so we want to give all credit unions ample opportunity to be part of the process and make their voices heard," NNAFCU President Fred Becker said in a statement.
"Everyone—from regular Caucus attendees to those in town that week for the Hike the Hill meeting—will benefit from insights of the high-caliber speakers and invaluable access to peers and congressional leaders." The Congressional Caucus, which will take place from September 18-21, will feature speeches by all three NCUA Board members and a keynote address by former Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe.
