REGIONAL Federal Credit Union's new political action committee recently got a visit from U.S. Rep. Peter Visclosky (D-Ind.) during its first meeting.
The $95 million Hammond, Ind. credit union hosted the congressman along with members and representatives from the Indiana Credit Union League and other local credit unions.
Visclosky addressed such topics as interchange, federal credit union taxation and member business lending as well as more local concerns.
REGIONAL FCU President/CEO Jill Banning spoke with the congressman about credit unions and warned him about potential consequences for credit unions and their members if the interchange legislation delay bill does not pass.
“Having Representative Visclosky come to our office and spend time with our group was very valuable,” she said. “The purpose of our PAC is to make members more informed about the issues that are important to them and to provide access to those individuals who are legislative decision makers. I think we accomplished that in this first meeting and we have a good model for future events.”
The REGIONAL FCU PAC is chaired by Kevin Kosek, Regional's director of business development. Its next meeting is scheduled for September.
