Credit union members who want to contact lawmakers to urge them to support legislation delaying the Federal Reserve’s debit interchange rule can now call through a phone number set up by CUNA.
When consumers call (877) 422-3525, they receive a recorded briefing on the issue, then punch in their zip code and are connected to the office of their senator or representative.
“We strongly believe the time has come to more aggressively reach out to credit union members to broaden the grassroots effort on the debit interchange issues,” CUNA President/CEO Bill Cheney said. “This ‘call on Congress’ engages credit union members and keeps up constant contact with their lawmakers – both in Washington and at home.”
Last week, the Fed pushed back the date when they will release their final rule.
