Fiserv Inc. has found a partner to help its financial services clients provide applications and widgets to consumers across a wide variety of touch points, including smartphones, tablets, social network sites and computers.

The company will be working with WorkLight Inc., a New York City-based provider of mobile application platforms that include native and Web development, integration and tracking tools.

The WorkLight solutions will be used to produce custom and packaged applications that will "allow banks and credit unions to extend new and existing banking and payments 'apps' to multiple environments beyond their traditional online or mobile presence," Fiserv said.

The two companies will initially focus on payment applications for gifting, alerts and donations with plans to expand into a broad range of banking solutions, they said.

"We're helping our clients provide financial services in new ways, through new channels, and to go quickly to market by building and managing rich applications using WorkLight," said Erich Litch, senior vice president of consumer services at Fiserv in Brookfield, Wis.

The growth of new end-user devices presents a significant business opportunity for banks, said Shahar Kaminitz, CEO of WorkLight.
