CUNA announced on Wednesday the winners of contested election races for its 2011 Board of Directors and among them was Pat Wesenberg of Marshfield, Wis., who competed in an unusual four-way race against challengers from Kansas City, Iowa and Chicago.

Wesenberg, the incumbent who had been serving on the CUNA Board and president/CEO of Central City CU in Marshfield, had been criticized for running for the board seat in a dual role as CEO of one CU and serving as legislative liaison for a competitor CU, Marshfield Medical Center CU.

In the contest for a board seat representing small CUs in six Midwest states, Wesenberg defeated Pat Drennen, president/CEO of 1st Security CU of Comanche, Iowa; Brian Smith-Vandergriff, director of Catholic Family CU of Kansas City and Dennis Fisher, president/CEO of First Security CU of Lincolnwood, Ill.
