Jack Antonini, former CEO of Cardtronics, the large Houston ATM vendor, has been named president/CEO of the National Association of Credit Union Service Organizations effective Dec. 1.

Antonini succeeds Tom Davis, who announced his resignation in August to become head of CUSO Development Co. LLC.

"Jack's tremendous leadership experience in financial services will help NACUSO fulfill its mission of being a catalyst for harnessing collaboration for growth" said a statement by Pete Snyder, NACUSO chairman.

Prior to his stint as head of Cardtronics, Antonini, with 30 years in financial services, was president/CEO of USAA Federal Savings Bank of San Antonio, which has long been active in serving U.S. military.

Antonini led that organization "'to earn such distinctions as 'Best Bank in America' and best in customer service," said Snyder.

Regarding Cardtronics, the world's largest operator of ATMs and which he left in mid-2009, Antonini, said Snyder, is credited with growing the firm from 8,000 machines and $6 million in revenue to 33,000 units and $110 million in revenue.

In selecting a CU outsider as CEO, Mark Zook, chair of the NACUSO's CEO succession committee, noted that the CU business model of today "and traditional credit union thinking will not sustain the industry. Our problems cannot be solved if we only look inwardly. We must look to successful solutions and ideas from outside and adopt them to effect meaningful change."

The outgoing CEO, Davis, echoing Zook said Antonini "will be a game changer bringing a robust financial services background to the table along with proven concepts that have propelled USAA to market dominance."
