The 370,000 members of Pennsylvania State Employees Credit Union (PSECU) and more than 10 million members of credit unions served by CU*Answers will now be offered mobile access through the technology tools of Firethorn Services LLC.

The deployment will allow PSECU and the Grand Rapids, Mich., core processing CUSO to provide account balances, transaction histories, fund transfers and bill pay using Firethorn's platform and the $3.6 billion credit union's own branded iPhone application.

"We've found that our members like the added convenience of managing their finances on the go. By using Firethorn's mobile solution, they can access time-sensitive information from their mobile device at any time," said PSECU President Greg Smith in Harrisburg, Pa.

"For 40 years, we have focused on offering customized services to our credit unions," said Randy Karnes, chief executive officer of CU*Answers, a provider of technology and other services to more than 160 credit unions. "Firethorn's front-end application provides members with the freedom to choose their preferred access method of managing their personal finances."

Atlanta-based Firethorn is a subsidiary of Qualcomm Inc. and lists more than a dozen large credit unions among its customers.
