NAFCU Services Corp. is now offering social media site protection services from a major provider of Internet security services to financial institutions.

The Cyveillance Secure Social Media Management program includes social media policy enforcement, brand and identity protection and cyber safety awareness education, the company and trade organization said. Functions include a secure customer portal that can locked down using e-mail, user names and passwords or restricting the account pages to marketing and promotional purposes.

Analysts have pointing to the increasing threat of identity theft through social media sites as users post potentially compromising information that exposes them to targeted phishing attacks. The Cyveillance program includes educational materials aimed at informing credit union members of that threat.
