Credit Unions for Kids, the credit union movement's nonprofit fundraising organization created to benefit Children's Miracle Network, is offering free kits for this year's paper icon campaign.
Credit unions from around the country can select from a variety of seasonally themed paper icons, which can be purchased by their members and employees for a donation of one dollar. The paper slips may then be displayed in branch lobbies as a way to demonstrate a credit union's commitment to charitable causes. The designs of the paper icons are intended to complement different types of generic holiday promotions, and include an autumn-themed football and turkey and a winter-themed snowman, snowflake and Christmas light bulb.
"We know consumers feel more generous during the holidays and are looking for opportunities to give," said Joe Dearborn, senior director of Children's Miracle Network. "This new campaign allows credit unions to engage members during the holiday season, and gives members the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of sick and injured children."

All the money raised through the campaign will benefit local children's hospitals affiliated with Children's Miracle Network. Participating hospitals provide healthcare for 17 million children a year, regardless of the type of illness or of the family's ability to pay, and will use the money for equipment, community outreach programs, hospital expansion and medical research.
The kits can be ordered for free at www.cufkholidayicon.org until Dec. 1, 2010.
