Rep. Paul Kanjorski, who has been one of the strongestsupporters of credit unions in Congress, was defeated after a26-year career by Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta.
Kanjorski (D-Pa.), the No. 2 Democrat on the House FinancialServices Committee, was victim to a GOP wave that looked so strongthat it was going to give the Republicans a majority in thatchamber.
It is the third time that Barletta has attempted to unseatKanjorski.
