Reps. Dan Burton and Mike Pence (both R-Ind.), who both received $10,000 from CUNA's political action committee, have won re-election, while Democratic senate candidate Rep. Brad Ellsworth lost a race for an open Senate seat, the Associated Press projected.

Ellsworth, who received $10,000 from CUNA's PAC and $1,000 from NAFCU's, is running against former Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.), who is seeking his seat back after a 12-year hiatus.

Neither Burton nor Pence, both veteran lawmakers, were expected to have tough re-election races. Ellsworth, by contrast, always faced an uphill battle against Coats who is still quite popular in the state. Ellsworth ran after Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) decided not to seek a third term.

Ellsworth, a two-term congressman, was supportive of credit unions during his tenure in the House. Although neither PAC gave Coats any money, Coats was invited to address NAFCU's Congressional Caucus in September.
