Ellsworth, who received $10,000 from CUNA's PAC and $1,000 fromNAFCU's, is running against former Sen. Dan Coats (R-Ind.), who isseeking his seat back after a 12-year hiatus.

Neither Burton nor Pence, both veteran lawmakers, were expectedto have tough re-election races. Ellsworth, by contrast, alwaysfaced an uphill battle against Coats who is still quite popular inthe state. Ellsworth ran after Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) decided notto seek a third term.

Ellsworth, a two-term congressman, was supportive of creditunions during his tenure in the House. Although neither PAC gaveCoats any money, Coats was invited to address NAFCU's CongressionalCaucus in September.
