Elevations Credit Union was one of two Colorado organizations to win this year's statewide award for organizational performance.
The $926 million Boulder credit union was to be presented the 2010 Timberline Performance Excellence Award at a gathering next Friday by Colorado Performance Excellence (CPEx), a statewide nonprofit that judges companies working toward the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.
"Timberline Awards are presented only to those applicants that demonstrate systematic and mature approaches, effective deployment, process learning, and process integration in their response to the criteria questions," said the CPEx examiners who assessed the 84,000-member credit union during an onsite visit in September.

"This award and our journey is all about providing expert service to our members in a manner that is unique, enduring and not readily duplicated by competitors," said Gerry Agnes, Elevation CU's president and CEO.
He said achieving the Malcolm Baldrige award is a company-wide goal with support from the credit union's board, senior leadership, management and staff.
The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program is administered by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and was created during the Reagan Administration. It's named for the former Connecticut executive and professional roper who became Reagan's secretary of commerce and died in a rodeo accident in 1987.
