Open Solutions Inc. said it has released the first upgrade of its flagship DNA core relational platform since its introduction in 2008.

DNA 3.0 contains more than 120 enhancements, including many intended to help its 400 client institutions support new products and services to generate needed income, the company said.

"Recent changes to the financial regulatory environment have challenged institutions to look for non-traditional sources of revenue," said Esther D'Albero, Open Solutions' vice president of core product development.

D'Albero said accommodating core conversions, mergers and acquisitions and business services also were a focus of the platform upgrades.

The Connecticut company highlighted DNA 3.0 at the BAI Retail Delivery expo in Las Vegas this week, where D'Albero said Open Solutions hoped to complete the conversion of its entire core processing client base, including legacy platforms from its earlier acquisitions, to the new platform in the next couple years
