America First Credit Union, Riverdale, Utah, has fully converted all five branch offices of Las Vegas-based Community One Federal Credit Union, just over a year after assuming COFCU operations at the direction of the NCUA. A declining financial position led to COFCU's involuntary liquidation. At the time of its assumption by America First, Community One had about $159 million in assets and 21,000 members. AFCU's five Las Vegas-area branches opened for business on Sept. 7.

Charter Oak Federal Credit Union, Groton, Conn., celebrated the opening of its second high school branch with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. On Sept. 15 at Killingly High School, refreshments were served to town and school officials and the credit union's ten student tellers were introduced. The branch was built to promote financial literacy to Killingly teens. Featuring the "Focused on Finances" program, the branch will guide students through the basic steps of banking and help them avoid the pitfalls of debt.

Clearview Federal Credit Union, Moon Township, Pa., announced the opening of its newest branch in Gibsonia, Pa. Jeffrey Gmuer will manage the full-service branch, which is the credit union's 17th.

Dover Federal Credit Union, Dover, Del., has opened a new branch location in New Castle, Del., on Sept. 9. Dignitaries from New Castle County and the Chamber of Commerce attended the official ribbon cutting along with Dover Federal board members and invited guests. The new, state-of-the-art facility is the credit union's sixth branch.

First Citizens' Federal Credit Union, Fairhaven, Mass., announced the addition of a new branch office in Mattapoisett, Mass. on Fairhaven Road. The branch opened for business on Sept. 13, featuring a drive-up ATM and serving the towns of Mattapoisett, Marion and Rochester. In addition to their new Mattapoisett location, First Citizens' has also begun plans for continued expansion on Cape Cod.

First Northern Credit Union, Chicago, will be relocating its branch in Streeterville to a larger location on N. Fairbanks Court. The new location will be more than double the size of the previous, and will feature a new ATM and increased staff.

Members Choice Credit Union, Houston, will be opening its sixth branch this fall in LaCenterra at Cinco Ranch. The LaCenterra branch will feature a full-service lobby, two drive-thru lanes, a drive-up ATM and approximately 4,100 square feet of space.

MidUSA Credit Union, Inc., Middletown, Ohio, opened a branch in Liberty Township. The West Chester Liberty Chamber Alliance performed the ribbon- cutting ceremony, and the new full-service location opened for business on Aug. 27.

Gateway Metro Credit Union, St. Louis, and the business management students at Gateway Institute of Technology have teamed up to launch the JagCity Credit Union inside the high school. This is Gateway Metro's second high school branch in St. Louis. The credit union will act as a hands-on teaching tool and will supplement the required personal finance and business education curricula. The grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place on Oct. 1.

Navy Federal Credit Union, Vienna, Va., opened a branch in Columbia, S.C. in September. The branch is to serve over 21,000 Department of Defense personnel, retirees and their families assigned to Fort Jackson. The 2,800-square-foot facility will employ ten people and feature a full-service ATM.

Pelican State Credit Union, Baton Rouge, La., opened its newest branch in Lake Charles, La. amid a crowd of local business leaders, residents, dignitaries and representatives from the Chamber of Commerce and the LA Credit Union League. Pelican acquired the branch through a merger with Lake Charles TELCO Credit Union that took place on June 1, 2010. Terry Derouen, a longtime TELCO board member who has managed the branch for the last two years, will remain the branch manager for Pelican.

Postal Federal Community Credit Union, Springfield, Mo., announced the completion of its new operations center, located on their existing 1770 W. Sunset location. It celebrated the expansion with a "Grand Re-Opening" of its Sunset branch, which took place on Sept. 28. Completed in August, the new two-story facility brings together all the operational and support departments of the credit union. The 13,000-square-foot addition allows the credit union to house all the operational staff in one area, helping them to operate more efficiently. It also includes a new call center, created to further provide service to the credit union's 18,000 members.

Southern Mass Credit Union, New Bedford, Mass., opened a new branch in New Bedford. President/CEO Daniel E. Waltz joined New Bedford Mayor Scott W. Lang and area dignitaries in the official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the office on the evening of July 13. The new location features four teller stations, multiple drive-up teller lanes, a drive-up ATM, a night depository, a coin machine and safe deposit boxes. The office also includes additional space for a state-of-the-art information technology department as well as a disaster recovery location for its corporate/operating offices and spacious meeting and training room facilities.
