A friendly competition has helped Dow Chemical Employees' Credit Union raise $25,147 for the United Way of Midland County.

The staff of 150 was split into four teams with the goal of raising at least $4,000 each. As an incentive, employees who increased or started a new pledge were offered the opportunity to have their cars washed by DCECU CEO Dennis Hanson and the senior management team.

The incentive paid off, as the Midland, Mich.-based credit union increased its contribution to the 2010 campaign by 26.5% compared to 2009.
