Add Rep. Jim Himes (D-Conn.) to the growing number of legislators who believe raising the member business lending cap will be pivotal for job creation.

Hines, a member of the House Financial Services Committee, met with the Credit Union League of Connecticut and representatives from a dozen of the state's credit unions at an Aug. 5 luncheon.

"Creating jobs rates high in importance today," Himes told the group, adding "and most jobs will come from small businesses, not the large corporations. We need to focus on enhancing the small business loan, particularly from credit unions and raise the percentage cap. This is what will help create jobs and work toward improving the economy."
