Donna Gambrell, director of the U.S. Treasury Department's Community Development Financial Institutions Fund will announce new Technical Assistance and Financial Assistance Awards at a community development credit union.
Gambrell will announce the awards at the $26 million Lower East Side People's Federal Credit Union in New York City on Aug. 19, according to the National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions. The National Federation expects the fund will distribute the largest amount of money in its history on account of the $247 million that it was allocated in 2009.
The National Federation is also asking credit unions that receive money through the Community Development Capital Initiative program to let the organization know.

Since the Treasury is not making individual approvals public, we need your assistance to track that progress, and it is imperative that you let us know when you receive your preliminary approval letter," the organization said.
