Credit unions continued their student outreach efforts during the 2009-2010 school year and reached a total of 413,460 students in 13,577 classrooms presentations.

According to the National Youth Involvement Board, the number of students reached and presentations given in 2009-10 grew by 6.3% and 7.3%, respectively despite the number of presenters dropping from 510 to 476, representing a 6.7% decline. Averaged over five years, credit unions are posting annual increases of 9.98% in presentations given and 10.4% in students reached.

In addition, youth advocates in the NYIB network turned in their largest recent increase in students reached of 29.4% in 2007-08, exceeding 300,000 students reached.

The NYIB has recognized Anissa Arthenayake of OSU Federal Credit Union for the most classroom presentations (614) and Marsha Lunden of Desert Schools Credit Union for reaching some 14,648 studentws in the 2009-10 reporting year. In addition, Natalie McLaughlin of Community Financial CU and Kim Beaulieu of Jeanne D'Arc CU took top honors as the NYIB Top Classroom Presenter and Most Students Reached respectively.
