The SEC is asking for feedback on the areas of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act that will impact investors.
While the SEC has responsibilities under other provisions of the act, there are several pressing matters the agency is looking for guidance on. Among them the regulation of advisers to hedge funds, investor protection and improvements to the regulation of securities and Wall Street transparency and accountability.
SEC Chairman Mary Schapiro said the new law "creates a new, more effective regulatory structure, fills a host of regulatory gaps, brings greater public transparency and market accountability to the financial system and gives investors important protections and greater input into corporate governance."
