John Worth, who has extensive experience as a government economist for several agencies, began work yesterday as the NCUA's chief economist.

Worth will run an office monitoring international, national, and regional economic and financial market developments and trends. He will also participate in policy development.

He previously served as the Federal Housing Finance Agency's manager for policy research. Before that, he worked at the Treasury Department as director of the office of macroeconomic analysis in the office of economic policy.

Worth earned a doctorate in economics from the University of Southern California.
