Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union, Merritt Island, Fla., announced that Susan Smith, vice president of compliance, completed the NAFCU Certified Compliance Officer program and received the prestigious designation of NCCO. Smith began her career with the credit union in 1984 as a teller and has since served as a branch manager, loan officer, vice president of training, before stepping into her current role.

South Carolina Credit Union League, Columbia, S.C., announced that naming of Steve Fowler as president/CEO of the South Carolina Credit Union League & Affiliates. Fowler brings to the position 38 years of experience in the state's credit union movement. He is a veteran to the credit union political scene, having served as the league's executive vice president and principal lobbyist.

MIDWEST

Minnesota Credit Union Network, Brooklyn Park, Minn., held its annual meeting and convention and announced that one incumbent and three new representatives were elected to three-year terms on the its board of directors. Jeff Schwalen was re-elected to the credit unions board. Kelly McDonough, Kim Boysen and David Sawin were elected to the board.

Members Cooperative Credit Union, Duluth, Minn., announced the hiring of Deede Westermann as branch manager of its Duluth-Spirit Valley office. Westermann brings 18 years of banking and credit union experience to the credit union, most recently with Share Advantage Credit Union. She has a B.A. in organizational management and communications from Concordia University.

WEST

Elevations Credit Union, Boulder, Colo., announced the election of Carroll D. Beach and re-election of Carol Krismann to the board of directors. Beach is currently president/chief operating officer of CO-OP Shared Branching. He also served as president/CEO of the Colorado Credit Union System for 30 years. Krismann has been serving on the board since 2006. Prior to that, she served on the supervisory committee for seven years and chaired that committee twice. Krismann recently retired from the University of Colorado and had been the head librarian of the William M. White Business Library since 1982.

OnPoint Community Credit Union, Bend, Ore., announced the appointment of Paul Stednitz as Central Oregon vice president and regional manager. Stednitz worked 14 years for Liberty Bank in Bend, most recently as senior vice president and regional manager. He is a graduate of California State University, Chico, where he earned a bachelor of science in finance and an MBA from Golden Gate University.

Redwood Credit Union, Santa Rosa, Calif., named Laura Jensen as business development manager. Jensen has more than 20 years of management experience in the financial services industry, most recently as vice president of sales and marketing for 1st Pacific Credit Union in Vallejo. She holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Sonoma State University and is certified and accredited by Western CUNA Management School in credit union management.
