Even though the fatal shooting of Credit Union of Atlanta President/CEO DeFarra Gaymon took place in a busy New Jersey park during daylight hours, no witnesses have yet to come forward.

"It was around 5:30 p.m. [when the incident initially took place]. It's a busy park. There's a chance someone could have seen something," Katherine Carter, press agent with the New Jersey's Essex County Prosecutor's Office told Credit Union Times. She did say the area where the undercover sheriff's detective said he was approached by Gaymon was secluded.

Questions still remain about the sequence of events that led to Gaymon being fatally shot July 16 by the detective at Branch Brook Park in Newark, N.J. Carter said she could not provide additional details beyond the detective's statement because it is an ongoing investigation. However, when asked where detective's partner was when the detective said he was approached by Gaymon, when he was apparently chased and then lunged at by Gaymon, according to his statement, Carter said the partner was back at the car with a suspect who had been previously arrested. Gaymon was alone when the detective said he was approached by him, Carter said.
