Mississippi's largest credit union, the $1.8 billion Keesler FCU, has named John Goff as its new president/CEO succeeding Scotty Broome, who has retired.

In a formal announcement, Keesler said Goff, senior vice president since 2001, was elevated to the Keesler helm June 30 following Broome's retirement.

Keesler also said as part of the management change Richard Tolar, also a senior vice president, was promoted to executive vice president/chief financial officer.

The retiring Broome, who has served the Biloxi CU for 34 years, has long opted for a low public profile but is well regarded for his industry contributions on the legislative front as well as for military and veterans groups and on behalf of the Defense Credit Union Council.

"Scotty Broome leaves behind a legacy of quality member service," noted Keesler Chairman Cynthia Payne Childers in recounting Broome's tenure.

Goff, who joined Keesler as a compliance officer, holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from Delta State University and a master's in business administration from the University of Southern Mississippi.

Tolar joined the CU in 1986 as vice president of accounting and moved up to senior vice president in 2001.

In keeping with Broome's retirement request, funds that would have paid for a farewell party were turned over to the Children's Miracle Network, said one industry insider. "That was the way Scotty always wanted it-no fanfare about him."
