"This partnership opens the door for dialogue as well as the exchange of ideas and best practices between Texas credit unions and our counterparts in Brazil," said Richard Ensweiler, president/CEO of the Texas League in hailing the pact.

Representatives of both the Texas League and SECREDI, as it is known, took part in signing ceremonies at the MGM Grand Hotel, the site of the 1 Credit Union Conference.

WOCCU officials said the Texas/SECREDI agreement is the 26th such partnership between leagues and foreign CU groups.

The Texas League noted that agricultural cooperatives are particularly strong in Brazil with many CUs in that country serving farmers.

Collaboration between the two groups will continue in September, with a four-week visit by 11 SICREDI staff to TCUL.
