As a NACUSO board member and chairman, PSCU Financial Services President/CEO David Serlo helped the association "focus on the importance, not just of winning battles, but on winning the war for industry sustainability."
Serlo died June 25 from complications caused by cancer.
He served on NACUSO's board of directors since 2004. Under Serlo's tenure at PSCU, in 2008, the company contributed $100,000 to NACUSO's National Center for Collaboration and Innovation, which was created in 2007 to serve as a clearinghouse for collaborative and innovative efforts.
"Dave was a visionary, leader, entrepreneur, and astute business professional in the credit union industry. He was a pioneer and supporter in designing and implementing the collaborative model which provided superior value for credit unions," NACUSO said in a statement on its website.
The organization also remembered Serlo as "an engaging conversationalist and a man of highest principles."
"We are honored to have worked with him. He will truly be missed," NACUSO said.
