Enlisting the help of credit unions, the Co-Op Miracle Match program has again promised to raise $1 million for the Children's Miracle Network by the end of fiscal 2010. With the assistance of recent donations from two credit unions, the program is $50,000 closer to achieving its goal.

Currently, Generations Federal Credit Union leads the way with a $30,000 contribution, while Greater Texas FCU has donated $20,000. The contributions of the San Antonio FCUs were each met with an additional $10,000 donation from the program itself and will benefit Christus Santa Rosa Children's Hospital in San Antonio.

In 2009, credit union donations had not broken the $700,000 mark until September, according to the CMN annual report. In 1981, program's inaugural year, more than 70 credit unions participated in the fundraising initiative. The 2009 report showed 111 credit union participants.

With 3,000 member credit unions, the Co-Op Miracle Match program is the third largest contributor to Children's Miracle Network, pledging annually to match credit union donations to CMN hospitals in a drive to accumulate $1 million in donations.
