The neglect and exploitation of the elderly has led to the formation of a Montgomery County, Ohio team, including a representative from Day Air Credit Union, to stop the abuse.
The Collaboration Against Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation is a 35-member multi-disciplinary team to tackle problems through education, advocacy, intervention and services. Bettina Buscemi, business development manager at the $210 million Day Air Credit Union in Kettering, Ohio, is on the team. She is also serving on an education sub-committee working with financial exploitation.
"This issue affects so many elderly people and many are unaware that it happens so often right in our community," said Buscemi, a certified credit union financial counselor, who serves on the advisory board of the City of Kettering Charles I. Lathrem Senior Center.
