The "Triad Flight of Honor" which recognizes World War II veterans by providing them day trips to Washington is taking on a credit union mantra next week as a second North Carolina CU provides financing and a guide to participants.

Making the D.C. trip on Tuesday to visit the World War II Memorial is Barbara Tucker, director of training at the $300 million Members CU of Winston-Salem. She will board the plane in Greensboro and serve as caretaker/guide for three war vets ages 87 to 96

The 'Flights of Honor' have become a "North Carolina phenomenon," as one CU executive put it.
