The last computer hacker associated with the ring that stole millions of credit and debit card numbers from retailers and cost card issuers tens of millions of dollars received five years in prison.
Damon Patrick Toey also received three years of supervised release and $100,000 fine for his role in every major hacking and theft of card numbers from retailers for the last decade.
Toey had been part of the group of hackers under ringleader Albert Gonzalez.

According to prosecutors, Toey played a key but subordinate role in Gonzalez' hacking operation, at one point locating and hiring a computer expert in the former Soviet Union to decrypt encoded personal identification numbers. At another point, prosecutors said Toey moved into Gonzalez' apartment to help him shift from hacking to compromising payment networks to compromising corporate databases that contained millions of card records.
Prosecutors recommended only six years, citing Toey's assistance in bringing cases against the other conspirators.
