Florida's chief financial officer, who is running in the August primary for governor, has given a boost to CUNA's congressional campaign on member business lending by writing a letter of support to NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz.

In an e-mail newsletter distributed this week, the League of Southeast Credit Unions cited the MBL backing of Florida Chief Financial Officer Alex Sink as a new testament to grassroots support for lifting federal limits to help small business lending constricted by the banks.

In her letter to Matz, Sink said she has been hearing from Florida small businesses "on a regular basis" complaining about the lack of credit, pointing out also that "90% of all commercial activity in the state comes from small businesses."
