It will be "lights, camera, action" later this month when the Latino Community Credit Union will premiere Roberto's Dream a film depicting the journey of a small business owner.
The movie, which will make its debut March 28 at the Carolina Theater of Durham in N.C., coincides with Latino Community CU's launch of its micro business program that includes loans up to $10,000, accounts and educational workshops.
Roberto's Dreams tells the story of owning one's own business, featuring the same immigrant couple from LCCU's first award-winning, educational film, Angelica's Dreams, the cooperative said. In the midst of an economic crisis, Roberto has been laid off and Angelica continues to struggle with her house cleaning business. Roberto decides to embark on the journey of starting his own business: the first Latino green cleaning business in North Carolina.

"2010 is the year for us to launch [the micro business program]. We have eight branches statewide with two more coming soon, a very well trained bilingual staff, and an upcoming business education program. The introduction of these services is timely since credit to small businesses has become increasingly difficult to obtain," said Alejandro Sanchez, director of organizational development at LCCU.
Tickets to the film are free. The movie has subtitles in Spanish and English.
