WASHINGTON — House Minority Whip Eric Cantor praised credit unions for their work in helping individuals and communities fulfill their goals and dreams and their contributions to the nation's prosperity.
During his address at today's final session of CUNA's Governmental Affairs Conference, he said that in the United States "there are no limits and we are about equal opportunity for all." Cantor cited the fact that there are about 600,000 new businesses started each year as evidence of opportunity and he added that these businesses need the services offered by credit unions.
Cantor, the number two member of the GOP leadership, said America won't reach its full potential if the federal government gets too involved in dictating policies that would limit individual freedom, in areas such as health care and business practices.
