When Barnes Banking Co.(Barnes Bank), which had a branch inSouth Ogden, Utah, closed its doors for good after being inbusiness for 119 years, Goldenwest Credit Union launched a simple,direct campaign specifically targeting the bank's customers.

From staying open on Martin Luther King Day to creating specialsfor new Barnes Bank customers ranging from $75 and $100respectively for new personal checking and business accountsopened, to a five year in-house mortgage special rate of 4.99% andseven year in-house mortgage loan rate of 5.74%, the credit unionhas gone all out to show the difference membership makes.

To spread the word Goldenwest CU staffers boldly handed outflyers in the local Barnes Bank parking lot, literally wentdoor-to-door, blogged and tweeted about how the credit union canhelp meet their banking needs.
