Operation Best Wishes, a campaign by military credit unions allowing families of the deployed to record videos for loved ones free of charge went into overdrive this week, concluding in Fort Drum, N.Y.
To the delight of the $307 million Warren FCU in Cheyenne, the video giveaway drew public raves and front page treatment Dec. 17 in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle.
"Coverage of the event also ended up on a local TV newscast, so it was well worth our efforts to help handle the 20 appointments which drew a lot of Wyoming families," said Michele Bolkovatz, Warren's marketing manager.
With U. S. servicemen now deployed to two wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, Warren FCU said its contribution was aimed at "keeping spirits high by bringing holiday cheer to the deployed and their families."
The Operation Best Wishes tour, sponsored by 17 CUs, the Defense Credit Union Council, and WesCorp, began Oct. 26 in Newport News, Va. by Langley FCU and winds up today in Fort Drum at AmeriCU of Watertown, N.Y.
