Consumer prices increased 0.4% last month, the Labor Department reported today.

Prices have increased during six of the past seven months. In October, the Consumer Price Index increased 0.3%. During the past 12 months, prices have increased 1.8%

Excluding food and energy costs, there was no change in the CPI last month, compared to a 0.2% rise in October. That index increased 1.7% in the past year.

Energy prices rose 4.1% last month, compared to a 1.5% increase in October. Those prices have risen 7.4% in the past year.

Food prices increased 0.1% in September, the same as in October. They have fallen 0.7% in the past year.

Housing prices fell 0.2% after being unchanged for two consecutive months. Those prices increased 0.3% in the past year.

Prices for medical care services increased 0.4% in November, following a 0.2%, increase in October. Those prices have increased 3.5% in the last year.
