Chartway Federal Credit Union, Virginia Beach, Va., raised over $400,000 through its charitable arm, the We Promise Foundation. The funds were raised with help from guests and supporters of the fourth annual Diamonds in the Sky Gala and the 11th annual charity golf classic held by the foundation. The gala included silent and live auctions featuring donated celebrity memorabilia, extravagant travel packages, original artwork and exclusive collectibles. Participants in the golf tournament included celebrities, sponsors, supporters and We Promise kids. The proceeds will support charities in Hampton Roads and across the country for children facing life-threatening illnesses by making their dreams come true.

Members Cooperative Credit Union, Cloquet, Minn., gave a $250 check to member Tom Gilbert as a part of their emergency fund account program. Point Loma Credit Union, Temecula, Calif., helped raise money for Michelle's Place Women's Breast Cancer Resource Center, a Murietta-based organization for women battling the disease, with a unique entry for a "Golden Bra" competition. The entry, which was crafted by two credit union employees, was composed of purple coins, with small pink $100 bills cascading down the front and pink ribbons. The entries were displayed at the Wild Women of Wine Country Luncheon. Proceeds from entry fees went to Michelle's Place.

Desert Schools Federal Credit Union, Phoenix, awarded a $10,000 grant to UMOM New Day Centers, a local nonprofit agency for homeless and low-income families.
