The NCUA's planned draft rules on the structure of corporate credit unions -which the agency is scheduled to unveil at its Nov. 19 meeting-and the political outlook for the 2010 elections figure to be heading the agenda for the annual American Association of Credit Union Leagues conference convening tomorrow in Naples, Fla.

Among speakers on the AACUL three-day program are NCUA Chairman Debbie Matz, who is scheduled to speak tomorrow and NCUA Board Member Gigi Hyland, who is schedule to speak on Saturday.

Also on the docket are talks on mid-term elections by political consultant Michael Hook, founding partner of Greener & Hook, and Keith Frederick of FrederickPolls, LLC. Other speakers at the conference, which brings together CEOs and top staffers from state leagues as well as CUNA leaders, include Bill Hampel, CUNA's chief economist, and Lois Kitsch, national program director of REAL Solutions

During the conference being held at the Naples Grand Beach Resort, AACUL will also hold its annual business meeting electing a new executive board and hearing recent reports on "league service corp. collaboration," said a CUNA spokesman. That is an apparent reference to new linkups and consolidation among state leagues including the newly minted League of Southeastern Credit Unions and the Texas League takeover of service functions of the credit Union Association of Oklahoma.

Slated to head AACUL in 2010 is Brett Thompson, vice chairman and president/CEO of the Wisconsin Credit Union League. He would succeed Roshara Holub, president/CEO of the Missouri Credit Union Association.
