Pacific Service Credit Union of Pleasant Hill, Calif., continued a long standing tradition by donating more than $70,000 to nonprofit organizations throughout northern California in the first three quarters of 2009.

Organizations that received the CU's support during this period included the Oakland Ballet, the Marine Mammal Center and the Bay Area Mission. The Bay Area Rescue Mission provides food, shelter and charitable services to the homeless. The credit union not only donated funds to support the educational programs of the mission but donated computers as well.

"Every year, local nonprofit organizations provide valuable benefits to our community, and this year fund-raising for charitable organizations has been decimated by the economy," said Steve Punch, president of the credit union. "With the continued support of our members and Board of Directors, we are very proud to be able to continue to support local organizations that contribute so much to our community."
