Six credit union CEOs, a league CEO and CUNA President/CEO Dan Mica were named today to the committee that will lead the search for Mica's successor.

GECU President/CEO Harriet May will chair the panel, which will conduct the search for a new president/CEO of CUNA. Mica, who announced last month that he will leave the post he has held for 13 years at the end of 2010, will serve on the committee in an ex officio capacity and liaison to CUNA's management. CUNA Chairman Kris Mecham will also serve as an ex officio committee member.

The other committee members are: Tom Dorety, president/CEO, Suncoast Schools Federal Credit Union and a former CUNA chairman; Eugene Foley, president/CEO, Harvard University Employees Credit Union; Rudy Hanley, president/CEO, Schools First Federal Credit Union; Brett Thompson, president/CEO, Wisconsin Credit Union League; and Patricia Wesenberg, president/CEO, Central City Credit Union.

"Dan Mica has been an outstanding leader for CUNA," said Mecham, who is also CEO of Deseret First Credit Union, Salt Lake City, Utah. "To say he leaves big shoes to fill would be a vast understatement. But the committee I am appointing today is up to the challenge of finding a successor who will build on Dan's accomplishments and take CUNA to the next level."
