Deborah Matz was sworn today as NCUA chairman in a private ceremony at the agency's headquarters in Alexandria, Va.

Matz, who was sworn in by NCUA General Counsel Robert Fenner, was appointed by President Obama in May and was confirmed by the Senate earlier this month. She succeeds Michael E. Fryzel as chairman, and he will remain on the board as a member.

She served on the board from 2002-2005.
