A second Phoenix credit union, the $420 million Arizona Central, has created a Web site to help the state's unemployed to help them find jobs and get financial aid.

Arizona Central's "GetAZmoving" has already recorded "5,000 visitors and 15,500 page views," said David Kexel, vice president of marketing.

"The purpose of the Web site is to create a community for idea-sharing on how we can work together to rebuild the state's economy," said Kexel.

In March, the $1.3 billion Arizona State CU launched "HelpingAZ.com," described as "the first-ever social media Web site designed to help Arizonans who have been impacted by the economy." It has recorded over 3,000 comments from users so far and won the Hermes Creative Award from the Association of Marketing and Communications Professionals.

Making a distinction in its concept, Paul Stull, senior vice president of marketing at Arizona State, noted that Helping AZ "sells nothing and only has one mention of the credit union. This is a users' community in the true tradition of the credit union spirit; people helping people. There are no experts dispensing common wisdom,"

Arizona Central, meanwhile, said it plans to promote its site "through in-branch marketing, banner ads on our main site, statement inserts, e-mail marketing and Facebook ads." It also is partnering with Local First Arizona, a business group, "to help spread the message about why it's important to patronize locally owned" firms.
