Virginia Attorney General Bill Mims has made $50,000 in grant money available to nonprofit counseling agencies aimed at helping families facing foreclosure.
Sims estimates that the fund, which was created from a settlement with the Countrywide Financial Corporation, will benefit approximately 250 families.
"In this difficult economic climate, an unprecedented number of families are struggling to make ends meet," Attorney General Sims said. "I am pleased that these funds from the Countrywide settlement will provide a real benefit to Virginia families in danger of losing their homes to foreclosure."
