The Wisconsin Credit Union League is entering the next phase ofa statewide investment education project and recruiting creditunions interested in participating.

The 18-month REAL Progress and Pathways to Prosperity projectaims to provide online investment education training to 4,000credit union employees in Wisconsin. Some of the areas to be testedinclude knowledge of 401(k) plans, housing costs and paying for achild's college education. A pre- and post-test will determine ifthe employees were able to take away practical and applicableknowledge.

The project will be coordinated by the league, the University ofWisconsin, Gov. Jim Doyle's Council on Financial Literacy and theWisconsin Department of Financial Institutions. Investor ProtectionTrust, a nonprofit organization devoted to investor education,provided a $200,000 grant for the training.

Wisconsin credit unions interested in participating have until theend of July to sign on. The league will host a Webinar on theinvestment education project on June 23. For more details, log onto www.theleague.coop andclick on the RP3 link under the initiatives section.
