NCUA spokeswoman Cherie Umbel told Credit Union Times that it can not confirm that Eastern Financial Florida Credit Union will merge with Space Coast Credit Union.
"Certainly, we have appointed officials from Space Coast to temporarily manage Eastern Financial's day to day operations," Umbel said. "But other than that, I can't really confirm anything about a merger."
Umbel did say that "NCUA is looking at some options at this point" but did not provide further details.

"The important news is Eastern Financial is open, operating and serving its members," Umbel said.
All members of Space Coast's executive management team are in Miramar, Fla. today meeting with EEFCU's management team to assess the $1.6 billion's operations.
