Housing starts fell 10.8% last month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 513,000, the Commerce Department reported today.
The figures for March represent a 48.43% decline since March 2008. In February, housing starts increased 22.2%.
Single-family housing starts were unchanged over February. Single family housing completions increased 5%.

Building permits for private housing increased 9% in March but were 45% down from March 2008.
