Online banking led online card use among a survey of Internet users in eight countries around the world that aimed to find out how secure people felt using the Internet.
The annual online well being survey from F-Secure also found very few that said they felt their children are totally safe on the Internet.
The Finland-based provider of Internet security tools (www.f-secure.com) used a third-party survey service in December to interview about 200 online users each in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, France, German, Italy, India and Hong Kong.
Fifty percent of the respondents overall said they were confident about security while doing online banking, but only 6% said they felt secure while making credit card purchases online.
Online bankers were the most confident in the U.S. (63%) and the least in Germany, where 39% said they were not confident in online banking.
Only 7% of respondents said they thought their children were totally safe on the Internet.
